The Parasitology Laboratory of University of Valencia is looking for a motivated PhD candidate for the project: «Biochemical and functional characterization of extracellular vesicles derived from edible plants: potential utility in improving human health (PID2023-146116NB-I00), CPI-24-504».

  1. General conditions of the job offered
    1.1. Job title and classification: Researcher in training. Group: A, subgroup: A1
    1.2. Working day: 35 hours per week.
    1.3. Allocation of the grant. The provisions of article 21 of Law 14/2011, of June 1, on science, technology and innovation and the order governing this call will apply.
    1.4. Duties and tasks to be performed:
    Performing laboratory tests:
    – Cell cultures and plant cultivation.
    – Isolation and purification of extracellular vesicles.
    – Characterization of said materials using -omic techniques.
    – Isolation and production of isolated molecules (sRNAs and proteins).
    – Evaluation of vesicle loading methods.
    – Functional characterization of extracellular vesicles and their derivatives.
    Performing studies:
    – Analysis of data obtained, interpretation and presentation of results.
    – Attendance at specific conferences and meetings.
    – Possibility of short research stays at prestigious centers.
    1.5. Purpose and period: completion of the doctoral thesis within the framework of the indicated project.
    The contract will be determined by the duration of the project and the budget availability.
    1.6. Requirements:
    a) Possession of a university degree in Life Sciences or Health Sciences or equivalent qualification.
    b) Be admitted to a PhD programme at the University of Valencia at the time of hiring.
    c) Not be in possession of a PhD.
    1.7. Merits:
    Previous experience in:
    – Work in a biomedical research laboratory or similar area.
    – The study and characterisation of extracellular vesicles.
    – Cell cultures and molecular and cellular biology techniques.
    – Handling and cultivation of plants.
    Possession of a C1 level of Spanish or B2 level of English will be valued.
